I don't agree that it implies that Mulder's alien obsession was the result of being exposed to the toxic gas. I think that as he has his history of her sister abduction he hallucinated that way.

This episode makes me think that the Law and Order and X files order should be joined to make a whole new "expanded" order. If the reason that Millennium is on this order is because of the episode "Millenium" of the X files, Homicide Life on the streets should be in the order too.

Really good prequel episode that sets up the origins of the Lone Gunmen and their relationship with Mulder. While I really enjoy this episode there are some really odd moments though, such as Detective Munch from "Homicide life on the Street" being a major character and the episode implying that Mulder's alien obsession was the result of being exposed to toxic gas rather than something he came to from his own conclusions
