Great to see Hawk from Twin Peaks!!! Michael Horse is has great presence, and it's nice to see he got a promotion to sheriff between Twin Peaks and X-Files

This episode is pretty bad. I get what they were trying to do, especially with the whole FBI and Native American story, but it just doesn't land. The evidence for the "werewolf" is blatantly obvious, but somehow vague at the same time, and the explanation for finding out Lyle is a creature doesn't make any sense at all. It's a stretch even for a sci-fi show. Overall, this one is just a bit clunky and not very enjoyable, because we don't even get any good character development like we do in other episodes. I agree with others, though, who want to know more about the history of the X-Files, since we got that little mention in here. It would be interesting to go back and see how they started! Second revival via spin-off, anyone?

A bit too predictable, and doesn't really dive as deep as it could have. An underwhelming episode.

A dull plot without any effective horror.

There were some okay parts, but it was rather predictable from the outset. The most interesting part to me was Mulder talking about J. Edgar and the first X-File. Like I'd watch him investigate that!

It's hard to do a "werewolf" with their budget but trying to hide it didn't really work.

It was a good story despite it being blatantly a werewolf story with ne'er a mentioning of werewolves in sight...

HOWEVER... Very bad FX combined with poor acting and shoddy cinematography of the werewolf scenes totally blew it. I'm torn whether to rate ** or ***. I think, based on all scenes with no werewolf, I'll hedge towards ***.

You know it's a good ghost story when if there's a noise everyone in the room grabs a gun.

There are parts I liked about this, but overall it just doesn't hold up to the better episodes.
