disregarding the introduction of a few new open threads, this episode really feels like a series finale where everything comes full circle. this season as a whole actually reminded me of the later seasons of GoT and how it is evident that the passion for the show was fizzling. I mean both in GoT and the X-Files, you can see that after years of working together, the team chemistry is there (previous season of X-Files was really the peak for the most part) but you can see the complacency setting in, and the show losing its quality production-wise. season 7 does feel that way, which is especially obvious in the latest episode streak being a series of comedic relief episodes really shows. for what it's worth, this episode actually feels like a good closing for the whole 7 year run of X-Files. I know there are still more seasons left but after this episode I think the subsequent seasons could be labeled under a different title (or subtitle) like a brand new series that take on where this episode left off..

What a fantastic episode. It feels like it could be a good ending to the show in general, with all the characters reaching closures to their story arcs in a satisfying way. While some of those endings are ambiguous, that has been a major theme of the show and an explicit breakdown of what really happened on those spaceships would feel underwhelming.

Whenever I watched this show before, I always stopped at this point. In the past I watched this show on DVDs and I never had season 8. well, we are in the digital age now, so I can finally watch the infamous season 8....
