amazing episode. the concept of the monster of the week is actually pretty bone-chilling, the episode can basically loop on forever with false escape hallucinations and you can never be sure

I loved how Mulder calls Scully out at the beginning of the episode. While I think the whole "Scully being a sceptic is unreasonable" critique is a bit over done, it was refreshing to see Mulder go "actually it usually IS aliens"
I also like how neither one of them was right in this episode, wasnt aliens or serial killers, but a third, more terrifying, thing

This is such a welcome break from the garbage that is Millennium. A nice, solid, X-Files episode.
